Videos, and Audio may have poster images associated with them for desktop and mobile experience. A poster image is a placeholder associated directly with an asset and displays as the first visible screen of the widget, when a widget is embedded or presented inline.
- A user may upload or link (https://) to any of the following image asset types: .JPG, .JPEG, .GIF, .TIF, .TIFF, .BMP, or .PNG.
- When a poster image is uploaded it should be converted to a .PNG and optimized (unless it is a .GIF).
Adding Poster Images
1. Click the Info icon of the selected asset.
The metadata for that asset is displayed; it will vary for the type of media. In this example of a video, the metadata shows video type, video format, size (if applicable) and duration.
Note: You have the option to add a poster image based on a desktop app or mobile app layout.
2. Click the Click to add poster link.
Once you enter the interface for adding media, you are presented with an option to add either via Upload, by URL, from Stock Assets, or from the Content Manager. (Note: The minimum image size should be 640 pixels.)
Note: The tip at the bottom of the window reminds you to consider the aspect ratio of the target device. Aspect Ratio is the ratio of the height of the image to the width of the image.
Note: In addition to the Content Manager, you can add poster images in the Widget Composer and Card Composer.
IMPORTANT, PLEASE NOTE: The Description section does not appear at the moment. This is being addressed and will need included in this document once it’s ready. Please see the screenshot below.
