There are two ways you can control learner engagement and require content completion in a course:
- Mark entire modules, Lessons, Activities, or Assessments as required in the Course Structure editor.
- Add a Progress Block in a Lesson to require portions of content to be completed before learners can proceed.
How to use the Required Course Structure feature
You can choose to set an entire card or cards (aka Lesson, Activity, Assessment, and entire modules) as required. This action sets that entire card as a requirement that must be completed before a learner can proceed through the course.
When a card in the Course Structure is required, any following cards will be disabled until the learner completes the required page. If a learner tries to proceed before completing the requirement, they will get a warning that they must complete all required content.
Example of a Required Lesson
To set up required structure elements in the Course Structure, use the three-dot options menu and select Edit Structure as shown below.
Mark the required structure elements using the checkbox. You can select individual elements or entire modules to be required.
The checkbox next to each module will be blank if no elements are required, “-” if some elements are required, and checked if all elements are required.
Any element or module with a checkmark is now required before the learner can proceed.
